PAROS

Paros is one of the largest islands of the Cyclades (186 sq km). It is located at longitude 37o 5′ longitude and latitude 25o 14′ latitude west of Naxos and east of Antiparos, in the centre of the Aegean Sea, just 90 nautical miles away from Piraeus. Paros is connected with frequent ferry routes to Piraeus, Rafina during the summer months, Lavrio, the rest of the Cyclades, the islands of the eastern Aegean, Thessaloniki and Crete by conventional and high-speed vessels (Flying Cat, High Speed etc.). It has an air connection to Athens. The duration of the sea journey from Piraeus is 4.5 hours by conventional and 2.5 – 3 hours by high-speed boats.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF PAROS

Next to the School of Parikia, is the Archaeological Museum of Paros. The Archaeological Museum of Paros hosts one of the most important monuments of Greek history, the “Parian Chronicle”. The Parian Chronicle is a marble inscription, engraved in the middle of the 3rd century BC and contains 134 verses of chronological references covering a period of 1,318 years (1528 BC -263 BC).

BYZANTINE MUSEUM OF PAROS

It is located at the church of Saint Athanasius (17th Century) that it is located at the western entrance of Naoussa. It houses over a hundred Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons (from the 15th to the 19th centuries), many of which are works by Parian icon painters.

VENETIAN CASTLE OF NAOUSSA

The sea-battered Venetian Castle that closes the port of Naoussa from the north is the work of the Sommaripa dynasty (15th century) and constitutes a unique fortification project.
